2024 Year in Review: Export Documents with Annotations, Timer, Pause and Resume Recordings, Edit Text and Equations, and More

2024 was a year of growth at Unicko. We added new features and made improvements to our platform while continuing to work with new and existing customers around the world. Now, as we prepare for 2025, we want to take a look back at some of the highlights from the past year.

Export Documents with Annotations

Export documents with annotations You can now export a document with annotations as a PDF document. The host can also grant attendees permission to export the document.

Timer

The new timer lets you set time limits for various classroom activities. The timer can be set by the host for personal use or made visible to all participants.

The new whiteboard menu lets you change color, stroke width, font size and shape with just one click. You can also control the eraser size and change the color and stroke width of selected shapes.

Pause and Resume Recordings

You can now pause and resume a recording during a lesson or webinar. If the host pauses the recording and starts it again, the new segment will be recorded to the same video file. If the host stops a recording and starts it again, a new video file will be created for the next segment.

Edit Text and Equations in the Whiteboard

Click on the text or equation you want to edit. Other participants will see your changes in real-time.

Select, Copy & Paste Equations and Formulas

Select an equation or part of it. Click on one of the template buttons in the virtual keyboard to include the selected part in the new template. You can also copy & paste the selected equation.

Matrices, Equation Sets, and New Mathematical Symbols

Now you can enter matrices and equation sets to the whiteboard, text editor and quiz. New symbols were added to the equation virtual keyboard: Angle, Parallel lines and Perpendicular lines.

Equation Editor Keyboard Shortcuts

The Equation Editor supports LaTeX mathematical keywords and commands. Type \ (backslash) followed by the command and a space.

Background Colors for Accessibility

Participants can now change the background color under the accessibility menu, for a slightly lower contrast color theme.

Rename Breakout Rooms

You can now rename a breakout room to reflect its purpose.

Filter Starred Q&A Questions

Unicko Question & Answer (Q&A) feature allows participants to ask questions during a session. Now the host can view messages marked as important or worth discussion.

Camera Thumbnails View

More participant videos are now displayed in the thumbnails layout below the speaker's video.

Recording Player Keyboard Shortcuts

You can now use keyboard shortcuts to control the recording video player. Click Shift+? to see the available shortcuts.

Recording View Count

Recording view count is now displayed in the Unicko management console. This metric tracks the number of times that someone viewed the recording page. This metric does not track the number of times the recording was played or unique page views.

Storage Limit Email Notification

An email alert will be sent to the account owner when usage is at 80% or 100% of the subscribed storage limit.
